A dispute over a stolen gun resulted in a chase through Southside and an eventual arrest near the Soccerplex.
About 6:30 p.m. last Wednesday evening a Southside resident called the police and said that Dmario Thompson was brandishing a gun – a gun he had stolen from her, no less – at her residence. When Thompson hopped in his car, the irritated victim hopped in hers and gave chase, calling 911 and giving officers a turn-by-turn account of the pursuit, which passed by Friendship Cemetery and through downtown Columbus.
The officers finally caught up to the action at the intersection of 4th Avenue and 3rd Street, near the soccer fields. As officers approached Thompson ran up 4th Avenue for a short distance before halting and surrendering.
Thompson and the car he was in were searched, and a small amount of marijuana was found in the car. The stolen gun was found on the roadside nearby.
Thompson was arrested and charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.0
