About 8:20 a.m. Wednesday an Oktibbeha County dump truck overturned on Highway 82 West, killing the driver.
The truck, which was empty at the time of the accident, was apparently traveling in the westbound lane of Highway 82 about a mile past the Macon-Meridian exit when the driver, Terrance Ware, 46, of Starkville, suffered a blowout and lost control. The truck left the right side of the road and flipped at least once, ending up astride the barbed wire fence between the highway and the frontage road near Elm Lake and pointing back the way it came.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department deputies, Mississippi Highway Patrol troopers, volunteer firefighters and a nurse who was apparently passing by and stopped to help all performed CPR on the driver, who was on the ground in front of the vehicle, until an ambulance arrived. It was unclear whether the driver had been ejected.1
