Big Mike Livingston/The Packet
About 5:20 p.m. last Wednesday a Columbus Police Department officer noticed a man driving erratically on Highway 45 North. He pulled the man over in the parking lot of Arby’s, and became suspicious when he smelled weed.
When the driver, Javonte Smith, stepped out of the car, he was told to put his hands on the roof. When officers tried to pat him down, he tried to stick his hands in his pockets. Officers handcuffed him and continued the search, finding a trove of paraphernalia: a pink Disney vitamin container and a cigar paper that both had a tell-tale green residue, and a set of scales and multiple plastic bags in a bag under the driver’s seat.
Smith was arrested and charged with possession of paraphernalia, obstructing traffic, improper equipment and a failure to appear warrant.0
