Columbus-made helicopters are headed to Israel.
Airbus Helicopters Inc. says Elbit Systems, Ltd. has ordered four H125 AStars and two H145s that will be placed into service with the Israel Police and replace their aging fleet of single-engine helicopters.
The H125 is the latest version of the AStar family and the H145 is the next-generation version of the BK117 family.
The civilian police force for Israel, Israel Police conducts law enforcement, counter-terrorism, border security, search and rescue, and planning in the future to support firefighting missions throughout the country.
The Airbus Helicopters aircraft will be equipped with thermal imagers, searchlights, moving map systems, cargo swings for firefighting and more.
They will be delivered to Elbit starting at the end of 2016.
“The delivery of these aircraft will mark the introduction of the H125 and H145 to Israel,” says Sebastien Delmaire, Vice President of Strategy and Business Development. “The H125s will be the first built for a foreign customer on the Airbus Helicopters Inc. final assembly line in Columbus, Miss.”
