Selectmen Seek Grant Funding
BY BRIAN JONES
WEST POINT – At their regular Aug. 11 meeting, the West Point Board of Selectmen discussed several grants and heard reports from the police and fire departments.
Spencer Broocks of the Golden Triangle Planning and Development District came before the board to discuss application for a grant to get police cars and a rescue vehicle.
“I have two grant resolutions for you, one for two police cars and one for a rescue vehicle,” Broocks said. “You are applying to the US Department of Agriculture and Commerce Rural Development Program. You are 35 percent grant eligible for that program. This is not a fast funding source, but once you put the application in you will be in line for funding. If a need arises and you need to go ahead and get those, we can ask for a proceed at your own risk application. At that point you go ahead and purchase them and then they will reimburse you 35 percent later.0
