According to Robyn Eastman of J5 Broaddus, renovations at the Trotter Convention Center in downtown Columbus are ahead of schedule and under budget.
Eastman said the project is about 78 percent complete as of this week.
Work on the flooring and ceiling inside and the outside wall remain, he said.
“We are planning on handing it over to the city between Dec. 15 and 25 so it can be used for some Christmas events,” he said. “It will be substantially complete at that time, and we expect wrapping up the last details by
the first or second week in January.”
That is substantially ahead of the original February deadline, he said.
“The general contractor has done a superb job,” he said.
The $2.3 million project is being funded with money borrowed from the Mississippi Development Bank0
