Reportedly, the two continued their verbal barrage until they goaded the unknown males into a fight.
According to the Pierces, they entered the business and were given “the stink eye” by “one of those black guys.” Steven said he asked what the black male’s problem was and, as he told responders, “The next thing I knew, we were on the ground and they were kicking us.”
Michael Pierce was charged with public drunkeness and simple assault. Steven Pierce was charged with public drunkenness and disturbing the peace. As he was loaded into a patrol car, Steven repeated, “Of course the black guys left,” over and over. The incident came one week after the highly publicized assault of two white males at a Huddle House location in West Point. The two disturbances are not believed to be related.12
