Williams Play Wins Award
The Tennessee Williams Tribute Committee won two awards representing Columbus in Vicksburg at the Mississippi Theatre Association competition.Heather Box won the award for “Outstanding Use of Technical Elements for the Community Theatre Division” and $100 for the TWT lighting and technical use. She was assisted by Brad Moreland and Melissa Duncan. David Trotter was presented a comedy/tragedy medallion for “ All Star Cast” Best Actors Ensemble. The TWT group attended workshops on community theatre development and had a booth of information about Columbus and the Tennessee Williams Welcome Center. The play that the group presented was “Kingdom of Earth” by Tennessee Williams.
Kingdom of Earth
The cast and crew of the Tennessee Williams Tribute production of the play “Kingdom of Earth by Tennessee Williams are pictured on the stage of Rent Auditorium at Mississippi University for Women this past Sunday as they prepare to set up their set and then acting out the play. They will take the production -set ,cast and crew- to Vicksburg on Friday to compete in the Mississippi Theatre Association theatre festival. The MTA had their festival in Columbus last year on the MUW campus with over 1,000 in attendance. Kris Lee, Cherri Golden and David Trotter star in the play directed by M J Etua, a former president of the Mississippi Theatre Association.
