Alabama Crimson Tide fan Ronnie Joe Otts of Guin, Ala. started out the Thanksgiving weekend in a bad way when he rolled his crimson-red single cab Chevy truck in a ditch Friday afternoon.
Otts was traveling north on Gunshoot Road near the Steens community around 4 p.m. Friday when he allegedly lost control of his vehicle and went upside down in a ditch in front of a residence at 794 Gunshoot Road. The impact knocked Otts’ tailgate from the vehicle.
A Jack Daniels bottle and a Busch Light can were found near the overturned truck. While Otts has not been officially charged with anything as press time, he did indicate to the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office deputies on scene that he had, indeed, been drinking prior to the accident.
You got me — I’m drunk,” Otts said to the emergency personnel on scene at the accident.
Otts was transported by ambulance to Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle where he was treated for injuries.
Otts’ weekend went from bad to worse Saturday as the Crimson Tide tragically lost to bitter rival Auburn with one second left on the clock.
