Investigators with the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office tracked down another scrap thief last week, just as the suspect was disposing of his foul-smelling swag at B & S Scrap Yard on Gardner Boulevard.
Joshua Haynes, 20, of 1139 Wiley Road in Columbus, stands accused of stealing an old refrigerator from a home on Christian Circle last Wednesday and then attempting to sell it for scrap later that afternoon. The fridge, reportedly covered in thick black mold, emitted such a foul stench that Haynes’ truck still reeked when he was confronted by deputies as he attempted to leave the scrapyard. Haynes was taken into custody by deputy Adam Honsinger and charged with felony breaking and entering. Haynes’ bond was set at $10,000.
