Plucky Northside personality Tamarcus “Moo Cow” Thomas is in the hospital after receiving an extensive beating at the hands of several black males.
Columbus Police officer Chris Sykes responded to EJ’s Quick Stop at the intersection of 17th St. S. and Bell Avenue just after 9 a.m. Wednesday morning in response to an assault. On arrival, Sykes found Thomas in front of the store, covered in blood that was pouring from multiple wounds on his face.
Medical responders were dispatched to the scene to see to Thomas’s injuries while Sykes collected information on what had taken place.
Thomas told Sykes that Charlie Owens had assaulted him. According to Thomas, Owens had accused him of stealing a gun.
The incident started on 16th Street North when Owens and two other black males allegedly chased Moo Cow down and threw him into a car before driving to Valencia Apartments. Once at their destination, Owens and his accomplices reportedly began beating Thomas.
Thomas was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital – Golden Triangle for further treatment.
The spirited Moo Cow is no stranger to the pages of the Packet, often appearing in The Scene. Additionally, the lighthearted young man was an unfortunate bystander in a shooting on Ash Street in June, 2012. In the shooting, Zachary Johnson was struck four times by a shotgun load. A stray pellet from the shot also struck Thomas, who was standing nearby. It was reported that one of the pellets struck him in the lower lip, but caused no serious injuries because of his distance from the shooter.
It is unclear whether Tamarcus Thomas actually took the gun from Owens. Though there are no charges pending against Thomas for the current incident, in the past he has been arrested for 14 charges of burglary, four charges of auto theft, and various charges including arson, domestic violence and carrying a concealed weapon. In total, Thomas has been taken into custody 18 times.
Though Thomas’s rap sheet is long by most standards it pales in comparison to the arrest record of Charlie Owens. Clocking in at a whopping 39 arrests, Owens favors assaults (eight total, including assaults against minors and police officers, plus one count of sexual battery), but does not shy way from DUIs (6), disorderly conduct (13) and a plethora of shoplifting, possession and trespassing charges.
If you have any information concerning the whereabouts of Charlie Owens, the Columbus Police Department would appreciate your call.
