One of the Columbus Police Department’s most wanted fugitives was captured last Thursday morning after a brief foot chase through Northside. Joshua Calando Jones was caught around 7:45 a.m. last Thursday, Sept. 26 snuggled behind a storage shed in the yard of a home at 1419 15th Ave. N. Jones had been on the lam for the last two weeks after the CPD Narcotics team identified him as being involved in the sale of cocaine. Jones initially escaped capture when approached by officers around 7:20 a.m., but was discovered after the CPD shift working under Lieutenant Oscar Lewis surrounded the Northside neighborhood to which he had fled. A team of six officers
slowly and deliberately searched yard by yard throughout the homes between 14th Avenue North and Military Road for more than 20 minutes before discovering the malefactor.
Jones was arrested and charged with sale of cocaine and, as of press time, is still in jail being held on a $5000 bond.
