Two Brain Cancers in Same Family Only One Year Apart
Brenda Faine Copes With Brain Cancer After Her Husband Was Diagnosed One Year Ago
Robert Faine was diagnosed with brain cancer and lymphoma a year ago. His wife, Brenda, was devastated by the news as was his entire family. The dreaded disease had left him in a state of not being able to function properly. He began doing things beyond his control because the dreaded cancer was eating his brain cells that he needed to perform everyday normal activities. A benefit to help raise money for expenses incurred during his hospital stay and his care was held last summer. But that only goes so far.
Now, to add insult to injury, his wife Brenda has the disease. Brenda Faine has been in and out of the hospital for the better part of this year after being diagnosed with a B cell lymphoma. She is now under the care of Baptist Cancer Center. She had recently visited UAB in Birmingham and is in need of treatment there as well, but just isn’t strong enough because of chemo treatments. The disease has taken a toll on her kidneys and other vital body organs and continues to do so.
So how did this husband and wife both come down with brain cancer just a year apart? Faine’s daughter, Joy Simpson Miller, says that there are other brain cancer and lymphoma victims in the same neighborhood that the Faine’s reside in. The Faine’s reside on Ridgeland Drive, just off Ridge Road near the golf course of the old Columbus Country Club. It doesn’t appear to be a coincidence. No way. Something in that neighborhood – water, air…something – must be causing it.
Faine says she asked for a test of the water near her home by East Lowndes Water Assn. She spoke with someone by phone, there, to get a report of the findings. She says they wouldn’t release the findings, only telling her that there was nothing wrong with her water.
In the meantime Robert & Brenda Faine’s health continues to degenerate, as well as of those other cancer victims in that general area around Ridge Road.
They need some answers…and some help.
