Friday night, Lowndes County E-911 received a call from a person at the Spotlight Lounge, reporting that the proprietor of the nightclub was trying to get into a fight with the caller. When asked for his name, the male at the other end of the line told the 911 operator, “You can call me Mr. SlickD**k.”
CPD Officers Stephen Kemp, Canyon Boykin and Donnie Elkin arrived just as Willie Wallace, owner of the club, punched Kennedy ‘SlickD**k’ Chandler in the face as the men stood outside the entrance of the establishment.
Wallace was subdued by Kemp, while Boykin and Elkin pulled Chandler aside. Because officers witnessed the punch, Wallace was immediately arrested and placed in the back of a patrol car.
Chandler became agitated and argued with the officers. In short order, ‘SlickD**k’ was arrested and charged with Public Drunkeness. While being escorted to Boykin’s patrol car, Chandler repeatedly beged the officers to give him a break, saying, “I just spent 10 years in jail. I can’t go back in, man!”
Once at the jail, Wallace began to have difficulty breathing. An ambulance was called and he was taken to Baptist Memorial Hospital for medical attention.0
