“It just hopped the curb…”

Dancy’s car

Damage to the dealership

Ear-splitting alarms pierced the night late Saturday evening on Hwy 45 N.  Several citizens near Carl Hogan Honda called 911 to report the signal, prompting Columbus Police officers to respond to the area to find the cause of the issue.
Arriving at Carl Hogan Honda, CPD Officer Chris Van Houten discovered a gaping hole in the left display window of the dealership.    Several feet away from the building sat a 1995 Buick Century, its nose showing damage from the abrupt meeting with the structure.  Glass, steel and drywall littered the immediate area.
The driver of the Buick, Robert Lee Dancy, still sat in the driver’s seat of the car.  Upon approaching the vehicle, Officer Van Houten was surprised to see that Dancy had his pants unzipped and his member in his hand, attempting to urinate into a plastic cup, unsuccessfully.  The officer firmly instructed Dancy to “put that away.”  In the commotion, the driver soaked himself and the seat of his car.
When questioned about the damage to the car and building, Dancy told Van Houten that he was parked “with the brake engaged.”  According the man, the brake just “popped off” and he shot into the building.  Dancy also advised that he had pulled into the parking lot “to take a p***.”
When asked for his insurance card, the man was unable to produce one, suggesting that he had no insurance on the Buick.  (His tag was also expired, having gone out-of-date in June of 2009.)
Dancy was also asked if he had been drinking before hitting the building, because officers found a 12-pack of Bud Light cans in the passenger floorboard.  An additional can, recently discarded, was found beside the car.  Dancy denied drinking, but failed a portable breathalyzer test.
Robert Lee Dancy was arrested for Driving Under the Influence and No Insurance.
