An alert veteran Lowndes County Deputy on his way home caught sight of two suspicious characters under the carport of a home on Jolly Ridge Rd. just off of Ridge Rd. The deputy quickly called for backup and deputies were able to stop the two suspects as the returned to their silver Honda Accord which was parked nearby. Inside the Accord, Sheriff’s investigators found several items from various burglaries across Lowndes County, including at least one stolen handgun and a pendant. Deputies also found illegal drugs in the vehicle.
The arrest follows a busy morning for Lowndes County law enforcement. In conjunction with the FBI, MBN, DEA, US Marshals , Lowndes County Narcotics agents and Sheriff’s deputies made at least 9 arrests this morning as part a region wide drug trafficking operation. All suspects were indicted on federal drug charges. Lowndes County Sheriff Mike Arledge and Narcotics Commander Bobby Grimes were on scene and both noted that the two suspects arrested will likely eventually be charged with several break ins across the area. This is believed to be the notorious silver Honda that numerous witnesses have seen snooping around area homes in recent months.
