A Starkville woman is dead and her accused killer is behind bars after a fatal July 4 encounter.
Thirty-four-year-old Aletha Edmonds was discovered in her home at 180 Glenn Lane in “physical distress” after 911 dispatchers received a call of a family disturbance. Edmonds was transported to Oktibbeha County Hospital via ambulance, where she was later pronounced dead. As of press time Wednesday evening, the cause of death was unknown.
Richard Nurse, 39, of 909 Old West Point Rd. was arrested and charged with two counts of Domestic Violence-Simple and one count of Manslaughter.
Investigators with the Oktibbeha Sheriff’s Department were not available for comment.
