Carl Allen Passes Away

Local Columbus personality Carl Edward Allen died on Tuesday, June 12 at Baptist Memorial Hospital.

According to family members, Allen passed away in part due to injuries he sustained in February of 2011 when he was hit by a truck on 8th St. and 3rd Ave. N. by Daniel Paul Copple. Copple was found guilty of multiple murders at the Elbow Room on the same night of the the hit and run which injured Allen.

Allen would have been 49 years old next week. He was born in Columbus to Jeffiers L. and Miller Trimuel.

A graduate of Lee High, he had worked at Airline Manufacturing and Spiller Furniture.

In addition to his parents, he leaves behind one brother, Jimmy Lee Allen of St. Louis, Mo. and three aunts, Elvira Sanders of Aberdeen, Doris Jean Blevins of St. Louis, Mo. and Kelly Leola of Mansfield, Ohio.

According to his mother, “He was a happy little boy growing up.”

Carter Funeral Home in Columbus is in charge of arrangements. The funeral will be Tuesday, June 19, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church. Burial will follow at the church.

    This is the fellow who hung out around the cabana ABC store, and would harass the Dollar store customers for money, then, curse at them… When I first moved downtown, I fell for his story with the surgical bandage taped to his abdomen, and gave him $5.. he then showed up at least once a week to “collect”.. Sorry, but, Good Riddance to him.
