Krystal Fast Food has officially closed its Columbus location. Known for their retro atmosphere and miniature hamburgers, commonly called “sliders”, the restaurant opened its doors in February of 2009.
Located at 2121 Hwy. 45 N., the restaurant was so popular during its opening week that police officers had to be called daily to control traffic. That high flow of traffic has tapered off, with the parking lot being mostly empty in recent months.
Dunkin Donuts closed its doors early last week and, according to LINK CEO Joe Max Higgins, the loss of two restaurants within such a short period of time is “not a good thing”
“Anytime you lose a job creator, a tax creator, it’s not a good thing, especially since they started off as such a gang buster.”
According to Higgins, there is no immediate plan for another restaurant to occupy the Krystal storefront.
As of press time Wednesday evening, a Krystal Representative had not responded for comment.
