Hot Donuts Now! …In August

The Dunkin' Donuts sign being taken down Tuesday morning

Krispy Kreme is coming to Columbus. Set to open in August, the donut giant, known for having “Hot Donuts Now” will be moving into the Windchase Plaza, in the former Dunkin Donuts storefront.

LINK CEO, Joe Max Higgins confirmed the news and said he is excited about Columbus’s newest eatery. According to Higgins, the company’s signature hot glazed donuts will be made on site and said, “I think there will be a lot of people who will be tickeled about that.”

Local Facebook and Twitter pages have been abuzz with the news, with some even posting countdowns until the store opens. Higgins joked, “The cars will be lined up with the hot sign comes on.”

Representatives with Krispy Kreme could not be reached for comment but according to Higgins, the project has been in the works for “four or five months.”

With a “Closed for Business” sign taped on the door and drive-thru menu on Monday morning, Dunkin Donuts quietly closed on Sunday without explanation. They opened in May of 2009.

  1. Love Krispy Kream….great idea, but sick of food places. It would be better if we had a Chuck E Cheese, Gatti Town, Incredible Pizza, etc. We need something for the kids, instead of driving 45 minutes for them to have fun! They need more activities:-(

Just what Columbus needs another fast food quick fix sugar rush for all the junk food addicts. WOW local facebook and twitter pages have been abuzz with the news , with some even posting countdowns until the store opens. Yeah they can’t wait to add more pounds to their already lard a**es. Wake Up that’s some of the worse s*** to put in your body.
Hey who cares right? Mississippi is already the most obese state in the United States. Bring on some more Junk Food Yum Yum Yum.

Well, Robert, your wonderful and considerate way of expressing yourself will make all “lard a**es” listen to you and your health advice. Keep up the good work and I am sure all the “lard a**es” will drive right by Krispy Kreme.

  3. So typical of todays youth. Its someone elses job to get your children active? And they certainly don’t need to stuff thier little faces with pizza and donuts while sitting on thier butts playing video games. Kick your kids outside and tell them to find something to do.

if i am going to have a donut i would rather it be a crispy creme. you can taste all the fatty goodness. i was not fond of the dunkin donuts. they were too dry for me. it tasted like i was eating a piece of bread with no flavor. these donuts must have been baked and not fried lol.

Shipley DoNuts have been around since 1936 and the company is still run by the founder’s family(Lawrence Shipley, III) since its founding in 1936.
Only available in six Southern states, it has withstood the time and hype from Late Nite comedian-pushing, Wall Street-listed, Johnny-come-lately upstarts with their glitzy, sugary bagel-like goo from New York City.
