Stewart Had 27 Outstanding Warrants
Columbus Police Department Warrant Officers Lance Luckey and Kelvin Lee arrested repeat offender Eugene Stewart Monday morning. Stewart had 27 warrants out for his arrest.
Luckey and Lee were attempting to serve the warrants on the northside of the Master Host Inn when Stweart became violent. Stewart initially refused to exit his Navy Blue Metallic Chevy Mailibu and drawing his Taser, Luckey repeatedly told Stewart to exit the car, yelling, “Open the window! Open the window! We’re going to Tase you if you don’t open the window!” The officers managed to get Stewart out of the car when he fell to the ground, screaming “My back! My back! I just got in an 18 wheeler accident a couple weeks ago! You’re hurting my back!”
[I have been present at no less than three of Mr. Stewart’s arrests in recent past and at all three he made sure to tell officers that he was “just in” an 18 wheeler wreck “a few weeks ago.” CK]
Stewart has been arrested 25 times since 2004. His vast charges include possession of marijuana, possession of cocaine, domestic violence, aggravated assault, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, possession of burglary tools, no drivers license, no tag, no proof of insurance, child restraint law and speeding. Bonds for each of the 27 warrants totaled $21,948. As of press time Wednesday evening, Stewart was still in the Lowndes County jail.0
