Just before midnight on Monday, Sheriff’s deputies and the District 5 Volunteer Fire Department responded to behind the Naem Gro in Artesia after a 911 call came in from a man who reported his girlfriend ran over him with his van.
On scene, the man who was later identified as Bruce Ferguson, 45, of Starkville, was tended to by paramedics and brought to BMH-GT with complaints of pain in his foot and shoulder. An on-scene deputy said he saw tire tracks on Ferguson’s shoes.
According to Chief Deputy Marc Miley of the Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department, Ferguson said that he and his girlfriend, Lula Morgan, 56, got into a fight at the club next to the Naem Gro about another woman and she tried to take his van. Ferguson said he tried to stop her because “all of his stuff was in the van.” He said she ran over his foot and took the van and parked it at another location.
Morgan said on scene “He had my keys, my phone and my purse, what was I supposed to do?”
Morgan’s Chevrolet Trailblazer, which was parked behind the Naem Gro, where Ferguson was found, had it’s front window shattered. Miley said that Ferguson stated he had smashed the windows out of Morgans’ car because she hit had him with his van. Neither of the couple, who reside together, decided to press charges on the other and no one was arrested.
Miley said either of the pair could press charges at a later date.
