Three men have been arrested in conjunction with the recent string of burglaries that have been plaguing Lowndes County.
Padriac LaDon Williams, 48, of 325 8th St. S., Billy Morgan, 45, of 1059 Spivey Rd., and Earnest Terrell Talley, 44, of 805 Remunda Drive were arrested Saturday and each charged with burglary of a dwelling.
Sheriff Deputies were out patrolling the area of Mike Parra Rd. Saturday night when they noticed a red Ford pick-up driving at a slow pace. After following the vehicle and noting that it did not have the required light illuminating the car tag, deputies pulled the vehicle over.
Deputy Todd Mistrot approached the vehicle and noticed a generator in the back of the truck bed. Despite the freezing cold weather, the generator did not have frost on it. When asked where they had gotten the generator, Morgan told Mistrot that he had gotten it from his nephew’s home at 2102 Land Road. After further questioning, Morgan admitted that his nephew was in jail but insisted that he had permission to enter the residence. When contacted at Lowndes County Adult Dention Center, Morgan’s nephew, Demarco Morgan, told deputies that his uncle did not have permission to enter the home. Morgan admitted that he, Williams and Talley had gained access to the home by forcing open a window.
Billy Morgan, Williams and Talley were placed under arrest. In addition to the generator, deputies recovered a 50″ flat screen TV, a WII Fit Plus, Miter saw and Bostitch air compressor and a nail gun.
The men were initially charged with one count of burglary and $10,000 bond but upon further investigation were charged with a second count of burglary and an additional $10,000 bond. It is believed the group broke into the Land Road residence twice.
Also arrested on a burglary charge was Billy Ross Petty, Jr., 35 of 1124 6th Ave. N. Deputy Mark McGarity saw Petty walking on the sidewalk near his home on sixth when he stopped the subject. Petty was wanted in connection with a burglary at 789 Casey Lane from Dec. 20. Two men reportedly broke into the home by forcing open the back door while the homeowners were asleep inside. Petty was arrested and charged with one count of receiving stolen property and one count breaking and entering. He is being held in LCAD on a $20,000 bond.0
