New Hope High School has been evacuated due to a bomb threat.
Law enforcement and school officials were made aware of the threat just after 11 a.m. Friday morning.
The students were initially evactuated to the football field but are currently in the middle school with seniors and juniors in the auditorium and freshman and sophomores in the middle school gym.
Lowndes County Sheriff’s Department has set up a perimeter around the school and the Tupelo Bomb Squad is en route.
If parents wish to check out their children they are being asked to park at the Piggly Wiggly parking lot, walk to the middle school and sign their child out at the office.
Update: New Hope High School was cleared by Lowndes County Deputies and the Tupelo bomb squad just after 2:30 p.m. today. They were unable to locate any trace of a bomb.
