After an absence noted by many of the keenest Packet readers, Miss Plautine has returned from taking a rest cure and is back on the Columbus social scene. Our intrepid social maven made it back just in time for the upcoming holidays, and there could be no better kick-off than a party at Judy and Ralph McLain’s beautiful home over in the hills.
Judy and Ralph threw a tenth wedding anniversary party for their daughter Natalie and her husband Clint Hardy. They live over in Birmingham with their two sweet sons. Natalie looked just beautiful, dressed all in black, a halter gizmo with those popular straight cigarette pants. Clint was taking all the girls’ breath away in a red sweater vest.
Judy greeted all in a green, pleated shirt jacket and Ralph was just Ralph, running around being sure everyone was plenty watered down. Their house was really shining the night of the eighteenth, lights aglow all over and even a fire going around the backyard pool – which the grands were roasting smores around!
The Table of Plenty (you know, Marty Wages does it all) catered the delicious food. All the guests were served plates of shrimp and grits, jambalaya and a green salad. Miss Plautine especially loved the bread pudding. As Natalie’s also beautiful sister, Stephanie Gale (Todd’s wife at the Columbus Light and Water) said, “I could just dive into the pan.” Miss P would have to agree.
Between the music and the wonderful service that The Table of Plenty provided, Miss Plautine didn’t know what she liked best. She certainly enjoyed talking to the guests – about 70 or so – that came from near and far. A very good crowd of Natalie and Clint’s dearest, just as the invite said….very sweet.
Miss Plautine thought she would be just going to just another party. However, this one was very touching as Judy and Ralph had a blessing bestowed on their daughter and son-in-law, wishing them many more years of happiness. The Lord’s Prayer was recited by all of the guests, and then the memories of the past ten years of the Hardys were surely discussed by the lively crowd.
Miss Plautine has never met such a family as these are – Todd and Stephanie Gale, Natalie and Clint Hardy, nor Judy and Ralph. They each have the uncanny ability to make all feel as if they are the only guest in their wonderful home. I am most sure that all will be waiting for the next invitation over to their house in the hills.
Miss Plautine will be checking her emails and her mailbox for your invitation….she would just love to tell about your next party.
