Another Murder in Columbus

EMT's work on Mosely in the doorway of his apartment

At about 1:00 a.m. Tuesday morning, Edmund Mosley was shot at an apartment complex at 515 13th Street N. He was pronounced dead by Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant at BMH-GT at about 2 a.m.
When the Columbus Police Department responded to the scene, they found Mosley, in a bloody white t-shirt, lying in the doorway of apartment R2. He appeared to have two bullet entry wounds, one in his upper left arm and one in his rib cage.
Mosley was alert and talking and said he did not know who shot him, but described his shooter as a man in a grey muscle shirt and black pants with braided hair.
Mosley’s girlfriend, Katrina Hicks was with Mosley at the time of the shooting. She said they came to the apartment to get some computer speakers and when they were leaving, someone said “What now b*tch n*gger? And then heard a gunshot. She said she was unsure of how many shots were fired.
Hicks said that when she moved and the shooter noticed her, he was startled and ran off south down 13th Street. She then called the police. She said he was wearing a green muscle shirt, was about 5’10 or 5’11 in height, skinny, dark-skinned and had medium/long length hair.
Both Mosley and Hicks said on scene that previous to the shooting, they had been having an argument with Mosley’s ex-girlfriend, Kalmesha Jackson.
Jackson arrived on the scene later and stated that she and Mosley had been broken up for about two months, but knew no one that would hurt him because of their relationship.
Neighbors said that Mosley was a good person who kept to himself. Another neighbor said that she heard one gunshot and looked outside to see Mosley on the ground and Hicks on the phone.
BMH-GT Ambulance, Columbus Fire Department and Columbus Police Department all responded to the scene.
Mosley lived at1012 11th Street South. The incident is still under investigation.

Seems like criminals are taking advantage of a bit of disorder in the CPD because of St. John being fired. Columbus is starting to turn into a Mini-Memphis…

Its gonna get worse with the choice they made to replace St John and I can see Columbus losing more good officers with McQueen at the helm. This will come back to bite the city in so many ways.

Yeah… I’m sure some cop in Columbus would’ve pulled out his badge and saved the day had the old Chief been aboard… Please.

There is also an obvious unfair amount of the photos of crimes committed by African Americans. I know Columbus and the GTA, and there are just as many white criminals. But…. The Packet is what it is.

there are so many headline stories… but never any follow throughs…are there or will there ever be any leads or follow ups on those who are murdered… Or is it that columbus is so insensitive to the everyday murders that we have becomed immuned.. We move so quickly to the next headline..I knew this man mosely as “Monty” he had few words but a love for his given life and found humor in the worst of situations. A man, like everyone, worth living. I know justice will never be brought for moselys family because I feel columbus has too may murders on its hands…I instinctly would blame the PD. but, realisticlly, dealing with 2 to 3 murders a week, who would have the time to solve them all….Ive lived in Orlando, party and drug central, to New England where the mofia ruled the news stations.. In the two years Ive lived here, I am afraid….
