On behalf of the 5th Annual “Grilling on the River” committee…
Rubens Fish and Steakhouse once again gifted our festival with the opportunity to showcase our beautiful downtown and riverfront area. Thank you Danny for the area that has helped us grow each year and we look forward to many more years with you!
Many heartfelt thanks to all of our sponsors. It is because of your continued and dedicated support that made 2011, and every year a success! This year marks the 25th anniversary of the Kansas City Barbeque Society. The “Great American BBQ Tour” will visit only 22 events this year over the 50 states and “Grilling on the River” was honored to be chosen as their “first stop” on the 2011 season! This year we had 39 professional teams from six states plus an additional 9 amateur teams from two states, not only vying in the “Kingsford’s Points Chase“, trophies, prize money and bragging rights-but whom all greatly enjoyed the southern hospitality! Thank you also to our KCBS certificated and amateur judges.
A great deal of money was raised for the “Columbus-Lowndes County Humane Society, because of the community’s generosity, profits from the “Warrior Energy Services -People’s Choice Tent”, bike and car show, food and craft vendors and BBQ team winners, who donated their winnings back to the Humane Society. We couldn’t have done it without you!
I’d like to also express a heartfelt “Thank You” to all of my committee, staff, and volunteers who worked tirelessly night and day-in record breaking heat, to help insure our success. I couldn’t expand this vision without their continued dedication.
We are looking forward to an even better year in 2012, and hope we can count on your support as we hope to grow and expand, and showcase what our community is all about!
Thank you all again and we look forward to getting to “Grilling on the River” next year!
Warmest regards- Harvey Myrick
