Last Wednesday evening, MUW held a dress rehearsal for the upcoming show “Quilters”. Based on a book, The Quilters: Women and Domestic Art, by Patricia Cooper, the musical tells the story of Sarah, a pioneer woman, as well as her 6 daughters as they go through life as quilters.
Rehearsals for the Musical started in January with a cast of seven women; some students and some members of the community. During their performance, each of the seven women play the roll of at least six different parts, some even more than that. The Building of the set began construction in February and since then students have put in well over 100 hours in completing it. Although the performance will be held in the theatre of Cromwell Hall, this is not solely a theatre performance. Cromwell Hall also houses the university’s Music Department and from Thursday night at 7:00 until the final showing on Sunday at 2:00pm The two departments will be coming together to put on a show that, since 1982, has entertained the young and old as well as told the story of seven women who will surely pioneer into you heart.
Doors open at 7:00pm Thursday through Saturday and 2:00 pm on Sunday. General admission tickets are $10.00 ($5.00 for MUW students).
