Bypass Rollover

James Davis Baker, 62 of Prairie Waters Dr in Lowndes County, was presumably leaving Lowe’s on Military with his load lumber and pulling a small trailer behind his pick-up. Baker had just made his way onto the Hwy 82 bypass heading west from Military road when his trailer began to sway severely causing him to lose control of his vehicle. The trailer was about seven feet long and the lumber was thirty or more 10′ to 12′ 2”x8” treated boards. It is unclear if the lumber was on the trailer or if it was in the bed of the Toyota Tundra. If the lumber was loaded on the trailer it may explain why it caused Baker to lose control due to the trailer being overloaded. The trailer separated from the Tundra as it left the road and began to flip over. The Tundra flipped 360 degrees and spun 180 degrees landing at the edge of the tree line. Everything from the bed of the truck was strewn all over the ground trailing to the site where the truck stopped. The lumber and supplies were for a pier that the Baker family was repairing at their Prairie Waters home. Presumably the Bakers were leaving Lowe’s just after purchasing the lumber which explains why James Bakers family was so quickly on scene. Baker was out of the vehicle and walking around. Shortly after the accident. Bakers wife and son were on scene showing concern for their loved one. Baker was transported to Baptist Memorial Hospital with complaints of pain in his neck and shoulders. Bakers truck was severely damaged in the accident and was towed off scene. All of the lumber and supplies that was thrown from the truck was loaded into Baker’s son’s truck.
