James Roland Minor, 82 of Steens, MS passed away Friday, January 7, 2011 at his residence.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 11, 2011 from 6 – 8 PM at Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS. Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, January 12, 2011 at 10 AM at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS with Bro. Gene Gillis officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Columbus, MS with Lowndes Funeral Home, Columbus, MS directing.
Mr. Minor was born November 10, 1928 in Sulligent, Lamar Co., AL to the late Charlie M. and Grace Vinson Minor. He was a resident of Steens, MS for the past 60 years having moved from Sulligent, AL. Mr. Minor was retired from Ceco Building with 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and his wife of 61 years. Mr. Minor was a member of Pleasant Hill Baptist Church, Columbus, MS.
Mr. Minor is survived by his wife, Ruby Weathers Minor, Steens, MS; daughters, Janice Marie (Ronny) Holder, Steens, MS; Judy Ann (Terry) Nickoles, Columbus, MS; son, James Roland “Jim” (Debra) Minor, Jr., Ooltewah, TN, sister, Nellie May (Roy) Grantham, Columbus, MS; grandchildren, Jameson Will Holder, Lindsey Michel (Nathan) Holder, Chantel (Chris) Holder McDill; Chad Eugene (Christina) Nickoles, Christie (David) Nickoles Honeycutt, Michael Jay (Stephanie) Minor, Charles David (Kristie) Minor, Brian Clements and Rebecca (Rick) Wheeler; great grandchildren, Caden James Nickoles, David Michael Minor, Bryant Hershel McDill, Jonah Daniel Honeycutt, Noah David Honeycutt, Mason Carter Jones, Elijah Grey Minor, Ian Michael Clements, Michael Kaden Minor, Riley Steven Wheeler, Jackson Zane Minor and Kaitlyn Paige Wheeler.
Pallbearers will be Jameson Will Holder, Nathan Jones, Chris McDill, Chad Eugene Nickoles, David Honeycutt, Charles David Minor, Michael Jay Minor and Buddy McCullough. Honorary pallbearers will be Walter Long, Herbert Junkin, Lathern Price, members of the Bill Doss Sunday School Class, Tommy and Lanola Davis, Roy Grantham and staff of Gentiva Hospice.
